Steve Strong

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Strong comes to Signature Retirement Living with over 13 years of experience in the seniors housing industry, including positions with Long Term Care,Independent Supportive Living and Assisted Living operating companies. Prior to joining Signature, Mr. Strong acted as Vice President, Operations at Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT,with direct oversight of 70 retirement communities, along with national programs pertaining to Food Services, Life Enrichment, Resident Care and Policies & Administration.

Kathie Koebel

Vice President Operations

Ms. Koebel started her career as a Registered Nurse in Kitchener, Ontario and was quickly promoted to Chair of the Nursing Advisory Council and the Professional Practice Council while simultaneously managing several surgical
departments. 12 years ago she moved to the retirement industry and joined Central Park Lodges (of Retirement Residences REIT, now Revera), first as an Executive Director and then as VP, Operations with a portfolio of 45 Ontario residences. Ms. Koebel was an ORCA regional President for two years and held the chair of the Waterloo Region Elder Abuse Committee. In 2007, Ms. Koebel then joined V!VA Retirement Communities as Chief Operating Officer. With such an extensive and varied background, she is a valued member of the team and advises on various business and senior matters.

Nancy Boland

Director of Operations

With over 20 years’ experience in operations and management of senior living properties, Ms. Boland’s primary focus with Signature Retirement Living has policy implementation and compliance. Today Nancy’s role not only includes, facilitating site audits, policy updating, staff orientation and ensuring that our employees and properties are compliant to provincial standard across Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland; Nancy’s insight and experience have also proven to be invaluable in assessing new building designs and market analysis used to determine the feasibility of new projects.

Sheila Tymstra, CHRL

Director Human Resources

Ms. Tymstra is a Certified Human Resources Professional offering 10+ years of progressive experience as a generalist, specialist and manager in complex and fast-paced organizations. Sheila is responsible for recruiting, developing and maintaining the Employee Handbook within Signature, supporting the COO’s efforts to drive employee engagement while ensuring that as a company that we are up to date and act within the provincial standards, as they relate to employee management, in the provinces we operate in.

Adam Fineman, MBA

Director of Sales and Marketing

Mr. Fineman joined Signature Retirement Living in February 2011. As a proven sales and marketing strategist, Mr. Fineman has worked with several Senior Living providers across North America to help drive low cost qualified leads to their sales teams. Through these efforts, he has played an integral role in helping to identify the gaps between sales and marketing, to bring forward viable solutions and to cement accountability. In addition to managing the Signature Retirement Living brand; Mr. Fineman’s responsibilities within Signature include developing a unique sales and marketing program for each retirement property and working closely with the properties to best meet the needs of their residents and the particular markets to which they cater to.

Jennifer Olson

Regional Director of Care Operations

As the Regional Director of Care Operations, Western Canada for Signature Retirement Living, Jennifer Olson is responsible for providing leadership to ensure effective, efficient and safe clinical care services. Her role is to create, implement and manage all clinical related and quality improvement initiatives including policy and procedure development and education curriculum to ensure that Signature Retirement Living is providing high quality services to our residents and is operating in compliance with health contracts and related standards and licensing requirements.

Jennifer received her Nursing Degree from University of Calgary and then moved on to earn her Masters Degree in Nursing from Athabasca University. During her career she has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings such as: general medicine, trauma, surgery, intensive care, and cardiology. Soon after her career started, she realized her love of senior’s health and delved into the fascinating world of continuing care. Since that time, Jennifer has worked in a variety of different capacities including: RN Educator, Director of Care, Regional Practice Educator and Quality & Risk Manager, Western Canada, and Clinical & Quality Manager. Her various roles have seen her be an instrumental piece in the successful submission of Affordable Supportive Living Initiative Grants as well as the commissioning of Supportive Living Level 3, 4, and 4D communities throughout Alberta. She has earned her certification in gerontology from the Canadian Nurses Association and is an active participant in the Canadian Gerontology Nurses Association and the Alberta Gerontology Nurses Association.

Lana Madani

Regional Sales Director

Mrs. Madani joined Signature Retirement Living October of 2011, and brings with her over 8 years of experience in Sales and Marketing in the Senoir Housing sector. During her career, she has had the opportunity to work in several properties throughout Ontario; always with a focus on ensuring that the value proposition of the property and sales strategy were aligned. With a solid track record in sales, Mrs. Madani primary focus is multi-faceted as she is a proven relationship builder, trainer and sales professional; all required as the foundation for a successful building. Mrs. Madani’s boundless passion can be felt throughout the various properties she works with, and it is clear that she has found the perfect fit with Signature.
